Here in the Yorkshire Dales National Park we are lucky to be surrounded by literally hundreds and hundreds of miles of dry stone walls. They are both works of art and important examples of living history.

Some date as far back as the 13th Century. More “modern” walls date from the Enclosures Act of the 1700s – and a time when sheep fleece was worth more than its weight in gold!

My studio garden is full of spare stones from sections of collapsed wall. And I’ve been wanting to breathe new life into them for a while now.

Inspiration struck. And Stonewall Sheep were born.
